Job Title: Senior Project Manager (Workforce Planning) – ContractorJob DescriptionThis contract Senior Project Manager role focuses on designing, coordinating, and executing complex staffing and workforce plans within a large, matrixed organization. You will partner closely with Business Management, Human Resources, Finance, and Senior leaders to bring structure, transparency, and rigor to workforce planning, capacity analysis, and prioritization. The position is ideal for a highly organized, analytical project manager who thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and is passionate about improving processes and enabling data-driven staffing decisions.ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end project management of staffing plan development and refresh cycles, including defining timelines, managing dependencies, and coordinating stakeholder inputs.Coordinate and align inputs from Human Resources, Finance, and business leaders to ensure staffing plans are accurate, complete, and reflective of strategic priorities.Consolidate multiple staffing and headcount views into clear, executive-ready materials that capture current state, demand, gaps, staffing changes, assumptions, risks, and key decisions to maintain a single source of truth.Support capacity analysis and scenario planning, including assessing trade-offs between existing resources and new staffing requests.Gather, analyze, and interpret workforce planning data to provide insights on staffing levels, resource allocation, and progress against metrics.Prepare concise, well-structured summaries and presentation materials for leadership reviews, decision forums, and stakeholder updates.Present findings, recommendations, and workforce planning scenarios to Senior leaders and stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to streamline staffing workflows, templates, and governance structures.Drive follow-ups and track action items from leadership meetings and decision forums to keep staffing initiatives on schedule and on scope.Manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously, ensuring alignment, timely communication, and high-quality deliverables.Collaborate closely with Human Resources on staffing, headcount, onboarding, and workforce planning activities to ensure consistency and accuracy across workstreams.Serve as an individual contributor responsible for workforce planning activities from data gathering and reporting through to presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in project management, workforce planning, or business operations.Demonstrated experience working closely with Human Resources on staffing, headcount, or workforce planning activities.Strong project management skills with the ability to lead end-to-end planning cycles and manage multiple concurrent workstreams.Hands-on experience with workforce planning, including gathering and analyzing workforce data and supporting capacity analysis and scenario planning.Agile experience, with the ability to apply agile principles and practices to manage projects and workflows.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities simultaneously.Proven ability to translate complex data and analysis into clear, structured, executive-level outputs and presentations.Comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and working directly with Senior stakeholders.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.Ability to work independently as an individual contributor while collaborating effectively across HR, Finance, and business teams.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working in large, matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholder groups.Background in business management, human resources, finance, or related fields supporting staffing and workforce planning initiatives.Experience developing and refining templates, workflows, and governance processes for staffing and workforce planning.Demonstrated ability to create executive-ready artifacts that clearly communicate assumptions, risks, decisions, and implications.Comfort with onboarding-related planning and coordinating work across full-time employees and consultants.Interest in continuous process improvement and applying a structured, analytical mindset to operational challenges.Work EnvironmentThis is a hybrid contractor role based in either Purchase, NY or a New York City tech hub, with an expectation to work on-site three days per week. Standard working hours are approximately 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You will operate within a large, matrixed corporate environment, collaborating closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Senior leadership. The work is strictly project-based and focused on improving visibility into resource utilization and workforce metrics. The role is individual-contributor in nature, with direct exposure to Senior leaders and decision-makers, and involves regular use of digital collaboration tools, data analysis, and presentation technologies in a professional office setting.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00/hr.RequirementsEligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
