About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced *Controller* to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing logistics and supply chain organization. The Controller will oversee financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, cost accounting, cash management, internal controls, and the month-end close process. This position will work closely with the president and operational leaders to provide financial insight that supports profitability, growth, and long-term business strategy. Key Responsibilities * Oversee preparation, analysis, and distribution of consolidated financial statements. * Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes. * Manage general ledger and account reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory controls, and financial reporting. * Provide monthly financial reporting, including variance and budget analysis. * Develop and evaluate cost accounting structures and identify opportunities to improve profitability. * Create, monitor, and report on budgets, financial performance, production, and operational metrics. * Improve accounting processes, internal controls, and overall financial efficiency. * Lead ERP implementation and optimization initiatives. * Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions. * Supervise and develop accounting staff. * Manage cash flow, banking relationships, intercompany allocations, and collections. * Prepare documentation and support external audits. * Review P&L statements and financial performance for business units, locations, and individual jobs. * Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, purchasing, and cost accounting functions. * Manage insurance evaluations and renewals, including liability, property, casualty, and workers' compensation. * Ensure compliance with applicable tax, licensing, regulatory, lease, and contractual requirements. * Prepare sales tax returns and real estate tax payments. * Reconcile bank statements and loans. * Maintain equipment records and analyze debt and current asset relationships. * Review and approve credit applications and lien waivers. * Partner with Human Resources on payroll, benefits administration, and personnel-related matters. * Work closely with the president on investment strategies, business growth, acquisitions, and potential divestitures. * Develop financial strategies that support both short-term performance and long-term growth. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. * Minimum of *5 years of progressive accounting experience*. * Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership experience strongly preferred. * Strong understanding of accounting processes, financial reporting, and financial data analysis. * Experience with month-end and year-end close processes. * Strong knowledge of budgeting, cost accounting, cash management, and internal controls. * Experience supervising accounting personnel. * Experience with ERP systems and financial system implementations. * Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance reporting. * Strong Excel and financial analysis skills. * Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. * Strong communication and leadership skills. * Ability to explain complex financial information to managers and operational leaders. * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who can take ownership of the company's financial operations while also providing strategic financial guidance to senior leadership. You should be comfortable working across accounting, operations, IT, HR, and executive leadership, with the ability to turn financial data into actionable business recommendations. *No relocation assistance is available.
