Paraprofessional may participate in a liaison role with general and special education teachers, administrators, parents and perhaps others.Qualifications:Must have a high school diploma and have completed at least two years of full time study at an institution of higher education or obtained an Associates degree or successfully completed the Para Pro Assessment.Ability to work well with children with behavior difficultiesAbility to work well with others in a cooperative mannerGood communication skillsEvidence of initiative, independence, adaptability and efficiencyGeneral understanding of child growth and development and child behavior characteristicsGood language skills including English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammarGeneral understanding of the purposes and goals of public educationSpecific subject area content as may be required by the particular job assignmentSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriateReports To:The Director of Pupil Personnel Services.Evaluation:The immediate supervisor develops specific duties for each Paraprofessional updating them according to needs.Evaluation of job performance is a continuous process designed to improve the quality of work performed. A formal evaluation is completed by the immediate supervisor at the completion of the probationary period, on an annual basis, and more frequently as determined by the supervisor.Terms of Employment:Position to begin as soon as possible.
