Experienced Railcar Mechanic Air Brakes & ASCABT (Travel Required)

Description:First Response Rail Service is seeking an experienced Railcar Mechanic with strong expertise in air brake systems and ASCABT inspections and repairs. This position requires extensive travel to customer sites and rail yards to perform mechanical repairs, regulatory inspections, and maintenance services.The ideal candidate is safety-focused, self-motivated, and experienced in working independently in field environments.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform air brake inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR regulationsConduct ASCABT inspections and repairs as requiredDiagnose mechanical defects and complete necessary repairs on freight railcarsReplace and rebuild valves, cylinders, piping, and related brake componentsPerform single car air brake tests and ensure proper documentationMaintain compliance with all safety standards and company proceduresComplete accurate service reports and inspection documentationTravel to various rail yards and customer locations as requiredRequirements:RequirementsMinimum 3+ years of experience as a Railcar MechanicDemonstrated expertise in air brake systems and ASCABTWorking knowledge of FRA and AAR regulationsAbility to perform single car air brake testsStrong troubleshooting and mechanical skillsValid drivers license and clean driving recordWillingness and ability to travel extensivelyAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding workPreferred QualificationsAAR or company certification in air brake systemsWelding experience (a plus)Mobile repair or field service experienceWe OfferCompetitive pay (based on experience)Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision, Life and Disability Insurances offeredTravel opportunitiesPer diem (if applicable)Company vehicle (if applicable)Benefits package (medical, dental, vision)401(k)Opportunities for advancementPI77e1918b36a1-26289-39824509
