OSP Construction Technician

Role Summary We are looking for a skilled professional to join our team as an OSP Construction Technician, focusing on outside plant initiatives in the Jackson, MS area. This field-centric position is dedicated to ensuring the integrity of our coaxial and fiber optic network builds through rigorous quality assessments. Your time will be split between field-based site inspections (80%) and remote administrative tasks (20%) to manage documentation and project updates. Core Duties Conduct thorough quality evaluations of finished telecommunications construction builds within your designated region. Examine outside plant infrastructure components. Ensure all construction outputs align with our established engineering and quality specifications. Improve project outcomes by identifying construction flaws and relaying necessary fixes to our partners and contractors. Verify that all required rework is executed correctly and within the expected timeframe. Finalize all necessary audit paperwork to successfully close out assigned tasks. Leverage tools like Microsoft Office, Teams, Smartsheet, and P2 to maintain accurate daily reports and project logs. Collaborate via Teams meetings and maintain clear communication with contractors and internal stakeholders. Provide consistent availability during standard business hours to support troubleshooting and inspection sign-offs. Maintain productivity while managing a variety of audit tasks across different sites independently. Essential Qualifications Practical knowledge of both HFC and fiber optic telecommunications infrastructure. Background in OSP, broadband, cable, or general telecom construction. Proficiency in interpreting and applying telecom construction and design blueprints. Fundamental computer skills, specifically within the Microsoft Office suite. Proven ability to operate autonomously with little oversight. Strong capabilities in technical documentation and professional communication. Access to dependable personal transportation. Flexibility to travel throughout the region, including occasional overnight stays. Preferred Background Prior experience as a Network Maintenance Technician. Background in conducting field audits or construction quality inspections for telecom. Experience coordinating with external contractors and business partners. Familiarity with P2 and Smartsheet platforms. Travel Expectations Regular travel is expected across the Jackson, MS territory. Some assignments may require travel to locations 3 to 4 hours away. Overnight trips may be necessary, with lodging provided by the company. Reimbursement for mileage is included. A reliable vehicle is mandatory for this position. Professional Environment The role consists of 80% field-based work and 20% remote administrative duties. You will function as an independent contributor within a distributed team. This position offers variety, requiring you to adapt to shifting priorities, visit multiple job sites, and work autonomously while staying connected with our internal teams and partners.
