Job VacancyProgram: Head StartLocation: 400 West AvePosition: Early Head Start Home Visitor / Home BasedHours: 37.5 hrs wk/52 weeks per yearSalary Range: $42,000 - $44,906Salary Grade: 12Summary of Responsibilities:Through regularly scheduled home visits the home visitor provides a curriculum for child development in the context of the home and during group "socialization" experiences for families with infant and toddlers and provides prenatal and postpartum education andsupport services to pregnant women and their families. The Home Visitor works with families to ensure that they are receiving needed services in the area of medical, dental, and mental health services; child development and education; family partnerships and goal setting; identification of family resources and needs; and provides encouragement to families as they progress towards self-sufficiency either through direct service or coordinated through referrals to community partnerships.Qualifications/Education and Experience:Requires a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, or Social Sciences or Bachelor's in Social Work (BSW) preferred with 2-5 years' experience working with children and families in a human service setting.Requires a home-based Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential and must demonstrate competencies in planning and implementing home-based learning experiences.Requires a basic knowledge of local Human Services agencies and community services available to the public.Requires a working level knowledge of early childhood developmentally appropriate practices for infants and toddlers, and family support interventions.Must be proficient in the Microsoft office suite.Bilingual PreferredRequires attention to detail; and good organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills.Requires the health and physical capability to work in a typical classroom environment, including sanitizing duties, lifting children weighing up to 40lbs.; and reaching, climbing, bending and sitting on the floor with children; and going outdoors with children.Ability to pass NYS Central Registry (SCR) clearance and criminal background check.Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver's license.All employees of ABC's Head Start/Early Childhood Services Dept. must receive and maintain a full clearance from the Office of Children and Family Services and Justice Center of New York that confirms any prospective applicant or current employee has no pending criminal cases or prior convictions for sexual assault, domestic violence; has no indication of child abuse maltreatment or neglect; or who cannot be left unsupervised with children.
