Director of Product Communications
A well-funded, pre-commercial biotech working on a potential first-in-class treatment in mental health is looking for a Director of Product Communications. This is a rare opportunity to build the product narrative from the ground up — ahead of a regulatory filing and potential commercial launch — for a treatment addressing a significantly underserved patient population.
The science has cleared its biggest hurdles. The next chapter is commercial — and communications is central to how this company enters the market.
The Role You will own product communications strategy and execution for a late-stage pipeline asset in CNS/psychiatry. This is not a maintenance role. You are building the foundation — disease state education, launch readiness, media relationships, cross-functional messaging — before the company crosses the commercial threshold.
You will report to the head of communications and work closely with commercial, medical affairs, regulatory, and investor relations. The team is lean. Strategy and execution both live with you. For the right person, this role has a clear path to grow.
What You Will Work On Lead product communications strategy through regulatory milestones and toward launch
Develop and execute an unbranded disease state education campaign
Partner with a new commercial brand team on integrated launch planning
Own key media relationships; direct an agency partner focused on mass execution
Build compliant, compelling messaging for HCPs, patients, payers, and media
Contribute to crisis and issues management in a complex regulatory environment
What We Are Looking For 10+ years in pharma or biotech communications, strong preference for in-house
Deep product communications experience with at least one launch under your belt, ideally first-in-class or novel mechanism
Fluency in FDA promotional regulations and scientific exchange guidelines
CNS or psychiatry experience strongly preferred; rare disease or other specialty TAs considered
Mission-driven — you can articulate why mental health innovation matters and why this moment in particular is worth showing up for
Creative thinker who approaches this space on its own terms, not as a template from a previous role
Experience managing agency partners while maintaining ownership of strategy and execution
Ability to work autonomously in a lean environment; you execute, not just direct
Comfort advising senior leadership and operating across commercial, medical, and regulatory functions
Northeast U.S.-based preferred; fully remote with periodic travel to the New York area
Compensation Base salary $190,000–$240,000, plus bonus and equity
