Orange Capital Advisors (OCA) is the real estate development arm of Evans Management Group (EMG), a family-owned investment and management company with a long-standing presence in the Carolinas.Together, EMG and its operating companies provide a fully integrated platform across development, construction, sitework, and related services, allowing for a hands on, end to end approach to delivering high quality projects and driving long term growth.We are currently searching for a Director of Accounting to lead Orange Capital Advisors in-house accounting team.The Director of Accounting will lead the development accounting function for OCA, while also supporting corporate accounting, treasury, and consolidation across EMG’s six business lines across five geographical divisions in the Carolinas.This role will be responsible for building and leading an in-house development accounting platform, transitioning outsourced functions internally, and supporting corporate-level accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting for EMG.This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role with significant visibility and impact across a dynamic and growing real estate investment and development platform. Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelopment Accounting & Operations (Orange Capital)Lead and oversee all accounting for development projects and joint venturesTransition accounting operations from external providers to an in-house platformEstablish and maintain job cost tracking, budgets, and variance analysisManage capital calls, investor distributions, and waterfall calculationsCoordinate with development, asset management, and external partnersEnsure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)Partner with development and leadership teams on project-level and corporate forecasting, budgeting, and reforecastingDevelop and maintain cash flow projections and capital planning models across the development pipelineProvide variance analysis and performance insights to support strategic decision-makingSupport underwriting feedback loops by comparing actual performance to pro forma assumptions Capital, Promote & Investor ReportingSupport equity and debt financing efforts, including lender and investor reportingLead administration of carried interest and promote structures, including:Allocation modeling and trackingWaterfall calculations and distributionsOngoing reporting to internal stakeholders and investorsSupport due diligence processes related to capital raises, refinancing, and audits Financial Controls & ReportingOversee reconciliations, balance sheet integrity, and cash managementPrepare comprehensive reporting packages for leadership, lenders, auditors, and institutional partnersStrengthen internal controls and establish scalable accounting policies and proceduresSupport consolidation across multiple entities and business linesLeadership & Process ImprovementOversee outsourced accounting providers during transition periodBuild, mentor, and lead an in-house development accounting team as the platform growsPartner cross-functionally to ensure consistency, transparency, and scalability in financial reportingWork closely with senior leadership on organizational growth initiativesDrive process improvements, automation, and system enhancementsQualifications / RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA strongly preferred7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant real estate development or construction accountingStrong knowledge of development accounting, job costing, capital structures, and carried interest programsExperience managing outsourced accounting or multi division operationsDemonstrated ability to build structure and scale processes within a growing organizationExperience with forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis (FP&A)Experience managing outsourced accounting functions or multi-entity/multi-division operationsBackground in real estate development, private equity, or investment management preferredProven ability to build processes and operate in a dynamic, growing environmentStrong communication skills with ability to interact with senior leadership and external partners
