Position Overview: The Project Controls Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of projects within our refinery. This individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining project controls processes and systems to track, monitor, and report project progress, cost, and schedule performance. The role requires a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Project Planning and Scheduling:Develop and maintain project schedules using industry-standard scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6).Work closely with project managers and engineering teams to ensure realistic scheduling and resource allocation.Identify critical path activities and potential schedule risks, and propose mitigation strategies.Cost Management:Establish project budgets and cost baselines in alignment with project objectives and contractual requirements.Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets and forecast final project costs.Analyze cost variances and trends, and provide recommendations for cost optimization.Change Management:Evaluate change requests and assess their impact on project scope, schedule, and budget.Maintain change control procedures to ensure timely review and approval of changes.Communicate change impacts to relevant stakeholders and update project documentation accordingly.Risk Management:Identify project risks and develop risk mitigation plans in collaboration with project teams.Regularly assess project risks and update risk registers to reflect changing project conditions.Facilitate risk workshops and communicate risk mitigation strategies to project stakeholders.Performance Reporting:Prepare regular project performance reports, including schedule status, cost performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs).Present project performance metrics to project teams and senior management, highlighting areas of concern and recommending corrective actions.Support project audits and reviews by providing accurate and timely project data and documentation.
