Target Salary: $55,000 / year ($25.00 – $30.00/hour)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, career-minded Assistant Project Coordinator to join our growing Engineering Department. Working as a premier heavy structural steel fabricator specializing in large commercial construction projects, our organization offers a strong, family-oriented culture backed by exceptional employee tenure.
In this newly created role, you will work hand-in-hand with Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers to support essential project documentation, submittals, drawing releases, fabrication packages, and scheduling. Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Fabrication Support: Assist Project Engineers in organizing and assembling complete fabrication packages and drawing releases for the shop floor.
Blueprint & Drawing Review: Interpret and review structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, and construction documents to support project execution.
Project Documentation: Track, document, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, design revisions, and change updates.
Schedule Coordination: Help track project timelines, material status, and deliverables to ensure fabrication and delivery schedules stay on track.
Cross-Department Communication: Serve as an administrative and operational liaison between internal engineering, detailing, detailing support, and production teams.
Qualifications & Core Requirements
Must-Haves:
Blueprint Reading: Ability to confidently read and interpret blueprints, structural steel drawings, and construction plans.
Educational or Hands-On Technical Foundation: Formal education or direct experience in Drafting, Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or Structural Detailing Support.

Preferred Qualifications:
Degree or certificate from an accredited Drafting, Construction Management, or Engineering Technology program (e.g., Gwinnett Tech, Georgia Tech, or equivalent).
Previous experience in commercial construction, structural steel fabrication, or construction administration.
Familiarity with CAD/Drafting software or structural detailing workflows.
