Financial Controller

Controller – Construction AccountingLocation: Miami, Florida (Onsite)Phoenix Pro Connect is working with a fast-growing and highly stable organization in Miami that is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function and support the financial management of multiple construction projects.This is an exciting opportunity for a strong accounting leader who enjoys being deeply involved in operations, project financials, and strategic financial planning within a dynamic construction environment. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing job cost accounting, and providing financial insights that support continued company growth.Key Responsibilities• Lead the month-end close process and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting• Oversee job cost accounting and percentage-of-completion accounting across multiple projects• Prepare and review financial statements and provide analysis to leadership• Manage and record journal entries, accruals, cost allocations, and project billings• Support budgeting and forecasting processes and provide financial insight to operational teams• Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and reconciliations• Partner with project management teams to monitor project costs, profitability, and financial performance• Assist with audit preparation and tax support as needed• Ensure compliance with GAAP and established accounting policies• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiencyQualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required• 7+ years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry• Strong knowledge of job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting• Experience leading or supporting month-end close and financial statement preparation• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis• CPA preferred but not required• Experience with Sage or similar ERP systems strongly preferred• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills• Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills• Demonstrated stability and progressive career growthWhat Makes This Opportunity Attractive• Fast-growing and financially stable organization• Opportunity to work closely with leadership and operational teams• High-impact role supporting major construction projects• Strong company culture and long-term growth potential
