Legal Counsel PositionJob Location: Boston, MA or New York, NY The attorney will join a team of lawyers responsible for providing legal advice under the federal securities laws in connection with the issuance and maintenance of variable annuities and other variable insurance products. Training will be provided for the variable annuities and other variable insurance products. This team is responsible for drafting and filing SEC registration statements for variable annuity and life products and for providing day-to-day legal advice to the business people who administer, market and distribute variable insurance products.The attorney will be able to:Handle complex legal matters, analyze legal issues, draft legal documents, and negotiate matters using sound legal judgment under minimal supervision;Build client relationships with diplomacy and by providing insightful, timely, and pragmatic counsel without supervision.Develop and begin to apply business knowledge when analyzing issues;Begin to work on project or cross-functional teams;Work with and/or guide outside counsel, as appropriate, on various matters.The attorney will have the responsibility to:Draft disclosures for prospectuses and offering memoranda for variable life and annuity products;Update product registration statements;Advise business areas on all aspects of product design and modification;Review sales literatureRequired Skills:Juris Doctor requiredCandidate must be admitted to practice in at least one state4+ years practice involving the Investment Company Act of 1940 with a strong federal securities laws backgroundLarge law firm experience preferred.Qualified and interested parties please contact Joni Lee Rossi at 617.262.1313
