Read below for more requirements.As a Sleep Technician, you will conduct overnight sleep studies to diagnose and monitor patients with sleep disorders. Youll work closely with physicians to ensure accurate testing and contribute to patient care by collecting and interpreting sleep-related data.As a Sleep Technician, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:Prepare patients for overnight polysomnographic studies by explaining procedures and attaching monitoring equipmentMonitor patients' physiological responses during sleep using EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiratory, and oxygen saturation equipmentIdentify and respond to sleep-related events such as apneas, hypopneas, and arousalsEnsure accurate data collection and documentation throughout the studyRecognize medical emergencies and respond according to protocolScore sleep studies and generate preliminary reports for physician review (if credentialed to do so)Maintain and calibrate sleep lab equipmentPromote patient safety and comfort throughout the studyFollow infection control and privacy standardsWork overnight shifts, typically 10-12 hours in durationThe ideal candidate must have at least one year of experience as a Sleep Technician. Additionally, they should possess a current BLS certification and hold the RPSGT National Certification. State licensure may be required.Sleep Technicians should be able to stay alert throughout long night shifts, have excellent attention to detail, and possess strong interpersonal skills to provide compassionate patient care.Requirements*: BLS, BRPT (RPSGT), 2 YearsAdditional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.TotalMed Allied Job ID #1392269.
