Its operations also include paving and road reclamation, precast and prestressed concrete production, and the construction of parking structures, specialty buildings, and bridge components. Peckham combines technology, innovation, and responsible practices to serve its communities and support customer growth. Its culture is grounded in safety, integrity, dedication, and efficiency.
About The Role:
Peckham Industries is seeking a motivated Junior DevSecOps Engineer to help develop and support the next generation of infrastructure for the organization. This entry-level role brings together infrastructure, DevOps, and security engineering, with opportunities to learn from experienced team members and build practical skills across all three disciplines. You will work with infrastructure and software and data teams to strengthen security and improve how applications and infrastructure are built, deployed, and maintained. The role supports Microsoft Azure and on-premises environments, contributes to CI/CD pipelines, and helps provide second-level support for infrastructure, deployment, and security issues. This position is based in Brewster, New York, and may require occasional travel to company locations.
Qualifications:
An associate degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related technical field is required. A bachelor’s or advanced degree is preferred. This is an entry-level position; up to three years of relevant experience is welcome. Internship, co-op, academic lab, and personal project experience in cloud technology, automation, or security may be considered. Candidates should have foundational knowledge of Windows and Linux, networking concepts such as TCP/IP and DNS, and familiarity with a public cloud platform, preferably Microsoft Azure. Exposure to Terraform, Ansible, Git, and CI/CD concepts is expected; hands-on experience is an advantage. Familiarity with application security, vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and the OWASP Top 10 is beneficial. Practical scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash is useful. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Entra ID, relevant certifications, and experience with IT ticketing systems are also advantageous. Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills are important. Candidates should be eager to learn, able to assess the risks of technical changes, and committed to keeping their knowledge current. Authorization to work in the United States is required.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain Terraform modules and Ansible playbooks to deploy infrastructure consistently through version-controlled automation. Implement and support code scanning and security tools, including static analysis, dependency and vulnerability scanning, and secrets detection in source control and CI/CD workflows. Help build and maintain pipelines, such as those using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, for reliable application releases across development, test, and production environments. Provision and support Azure resources and Windows and Linux servers, using automation wherever practical. Write scripts to streamline operational and deployment tasks. Monitor infrastructure and application health, respond to alerts and security findings, and help remediate vulnerabilities. Support backup, recovery, and redundancy practices, and contribute to testing and documentation. Maintain clear architecture records, standards, runbooks, and procedures. Communicate status, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical colleagues, provide second-level support as needed, and participate in projects while following change management processes.
Benefits:
This full-time role offers the opportunity to develop in infrastructure, DevOps, and security with support from senior staff. Compensation is determined based on job-related factors, including experience, education, qualifications, and skills. Some travel to company work locations may be required. The position primarily operates in a professional office environment and involves standard computer-based work.
