Work Study, Academic Support, Technology or Laboratory (Biology)Department: BiologyLocation: Metropolitan CampusReports To: Lab Manager, Life & Phys SciencesRecruitment Type: InternalRequisition ID: req6354Employment Type: StudentUnion Position: Non-UnionWork Schedule: DAYS TO BE DETERMINED BY HIRING MANAGER AND STUDENTJob Description:LearningObjectives:Student will perform a support role assisting lab technicians and managers in the biology labsDuties will include:Assistance with laboratory preparations, setting up the laboratory rooms for faculty teaching lab classes.Setting up student laboratory exercises (a.k.a. lab preps) upon labeled carts which can be pushed into the laboratory or within benchtop areas within the student laboratory classrooms.Cleanup/sanitation of laboratory rooms after labs are performedWashing of laboratory glassware and other lab supplies as needed as part of lab clean upChecking for sufficient quantities of lab materials (distilled water, lab exam gloves, paper towels and soap) in laboratory classrooms and Bio-prep lab areas.Other duties as assignedConsistentlymaintain 6 credit hours each semester;maintainsatisfactory academic progress;adhere toCollege's confidentiality policy;successfullypass background/drug screening;maintainopen lab time as scheduled;helpmaintain the facilities;othergeneral maintenance requirements;work withspecialized equipment including chemicals;preferencegiven to currently enrolled students in major;familiaritywith Microsoft Office;ability towork with minimal instruction;other dutiesas assigned.Special Note: Number of Openings (2)Special Instructions to Applicants: During the application process, you may be required to attach a cover letter and/or resume.
