Director, Sales Engineering
Location: Dallas-Ft Worth, TXReports to: Regional Vice President of Sales EngineeringTravel: Regular business travel requiredAbout the RoleThe Director of Sales Engineering leads a geographically distributed team of Sales Engineers supporting enterprise and government customers. This role partners closely with Sales and cross‑functional teams to drive revenue growth, deliver technically sound solutions, and ensure a strong customer experience from pre‑sale through activation.This leader is both strategic and hands‑on—providing direction, coaching, and oversight while enabling the sales organization with deep technical expertise, strong process discipline, and effective collaboration across the business.What You’ll DoLead, coach, and develop a team of Sales Engineers providing pre‑sales technical supportPartner closely with regional Sales leadership to align technical strategy with revenue goalsServe as a key liaison between Sales, Operations, Project Management, and Product teams to support successful customer deploymentsOversee solution design for complex opportunities, RFP responses, and out‑of‑scope requestsEnsure consistent, accurate, and ethical communication of product capabilities and solutionsDrive standardized processes, tools, and best practices across all marketsSupport customer escalations and help ensure a positive overall customer experienceProvide ongoing training to the sales organization on products, technology, and industry trendsPrepare and review KPIs, forecasts, and performance metricsRecruit, hire, onboard, and develop Sales Engineering talentPartner with Product Development on new service launches and enhancementsWhat You BringEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Engineering, or equivalent experienceTelecommunications certifications preferred (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, MEF)Experience:8+ years in telecom pre‑sales technical roles or3+ years in Sales Engineering leadershipStrong knowledge of fiber networks, metro Ethernet, transport delivery, IP services, SD‑WAN, voice solutions, and cloud environmentsSolid understanding of the OSI model, network design, and telecom installation workflowsExperience with financial modeling, ROI calculations, pricing, and profitability analysisProficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and mapping/GIS toolsSkills & Competencies:Proven people leader with experience managing geographically dispersed teamsStrong communicator with the ability to translate technical concepts to non‑technical audiencesHighly organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple prioritiesCollaborative, adaptable, and solutions‑orientedDemonstrates integrity, accountability, and a customer‑first mindsetAbout Segra:Segra owns and operates a wide and dense fiber-optic infrastructure footprint that provides state-of-the-art connectivity, cybersecurity, voice, cloud and colocation solutions, all backed by industry leading service and reliability.
