Vice President (VP) Medical AffairsThe VP Medical Affairs is responsible for cultivating and further developing the relationships between the hospitals and their physicians. This role provides leadership for medical staff activities at the three hospitals, while interfacing with operations to ensure safe, effective, high quality medical services are being delivered. As a system position, the VP Medical Affairs is expected to be highly visible and accessible to facilitate provider collaboration and efficacy across the system.Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer, this position will have a matrixed reporting relationship with executives leading hospital operations. The VP Medical Affairs develops, builds and maintains strong physician teams, leads by example to develop effective communication between medical service lines, and successfully advances Asante's history of excellent clinical care and outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesThe VP of Medical Affairs will provide support to the RRMC, AACH and TRMC medical committees in their responsibilities for quality and credentialing activities. Additionally, provides support to Asante Physician Partners in matters related to quality and credentialing. Advises all medical departments regarding the reappointment and delineation of clinical privileges, peer review and other credentialing and quality of care concerns.Assures medical staff compliance with medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures, and peer review. In concert with the Medical Staff Officers, receives, investigates, and where possible resolves conflicts referred by the medical staff in reports and/or complaints against members of the medical staff to the appropriate bodiesCollaborates with the Medical Director of Continuing Medical Education (CME) in providing direction for Continuing Medical Education in the region for physicians and support staffExhibits excellent communication skills, including the ability to mentor physicians.Demonstrates high degree of analytic competency in use and interpretation of data, and ability to partner with other departments as needed to ensure accurate and timely dataQualificationsExperienceMinimum of five years leadership experience in a health system including experience with medical staff, peer review, and credentialing activitiesEducationAdditional advanced degree, such as MBA, MHA, or equivalent requiredLicenseMD or DO licensure with board certification in area of specialty.
