Linux System Engineer

DescriptionThe Linux Engineer is responsible for daily operations and maintenance of the Linux server environment. This role works closely with the Virtualization and System Administration teams to fully manage the maintenance outage response, and operational support of the environment.This is a long term contract role that must be hybrid 3 days per week in Downtown Chicago ResponsibilitiesMaintains policies and standard procedures to increase system uptime.Documents and maintains system standards; researches and recommends innovative approaches for system administration tasksProvides a second level of Red Hat Linux support; leads service incident and problem resolution efforts to support entrusted applications/productsLeads troubleshooting of application, Red Hat Linux operating system(s) server hardware, network communications and storage problems within infrastructureCreates and maintains standard OS installation images for virtualization templatesExperience Required5+ years of Linux configuration and operation in large real or virtual datacentersIntermediate or higher-level experience scripting in Python, Perl, or BashExpert-level experience in Red Hat Enterprise LinuxIBM AIX experienceNovice or higher-level experience with Red Hat Open Shift Container Platform and/or Docker and KubernetesPreferred CertificationsRed Hat Certified Systems AdministratorRed Hat Certified Systems EngineerCompTIA Linux+pay around 60-80/hr
