Human Resources Officer
The Human Resources Officer is a mid-level leadership role responsible for advancing Iowa Trust’s people strategy, supporting organizational performance, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This position partners closely with executive and department leaders to align talent initiatives with business objectives while fostering a strong culture rooted in community banking values.In addition to core HR responsibilities, this role may include oversight of Shareholder Relations functions, including coordination of shareholder communications and governance documentation.Key ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources LeadershipPartner with executive leadership to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with Iowa Trust’s mission, culture, and growth objectives.Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on employee relations, performance management, and organizational development matters.Promote and uphold Iowa Trust’s culture, values, and commitment to operational excellence and community engagement.Talent Acquisition & OnboardingLead recruitment efforts, including workforce planning, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and selection.Oversee onboarding programs to ensure a consistent, compliant and engaging new-hire experience.Support succession planning and internal talent development initiatives.Employee Relations & Performance ManagementProvide guidance and resolution support on employee relations matters.Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, reviews, coaching, and accountability.Support leaders in driving high performance while fostering employee engagement and retention.Compensation, Benefits & ComplianceAssist in administering competitive compensation and benefits programs.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and applicable banking regulations.Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook materials.Support internal and external audits as related to HR functions.Training & DevelopmentIdentify organizational training needs and coordinate professional development initiatives.Support leadership development efforts across the organization.Monitor and report on training participation and effectiveness.HR Operations & ReportingMaintain accurate employee records and HR systems.Prepare and analyze HR metrics (turnover, retention, engagement, hiring trends) to support leadership decision-making.Coordinate payroll processing with the organization’s third-party payroll provider, ensuring accuracy, timely submissions, proper approvals, and compliance with applicable wage and hour laws and tax regulations.Oversee administration of the 401(k) plan in coordination with plan providers, including eligibility tracking, enrollment support, contribution accuracy, compliance monitoring, annual reporting requirements, and audit coordination as applicable.Administer benefits enrollment and coordinate related reporting and reconciliation processes.Shareholder RelationsCoordinate shareholder communications, including annual meeting materials and related correspondence.Assist with preparation and distribution of shareholder reports and required documentation.Maintain accurate shareholder records and support related compliance requirements.Serve as a liaison between executive leadership and shareholders as appropriate.Record and maintain accurate minutes for Board of Directors meetings, ensuring proper documentation of discussions, actions, and approvals in accordance with governance standards.Support maintenance of official corporate records and governance documentationQualificationsBachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably within banking or financial services.Working knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance.Experience coordinating with third-party payroll and benefits vendors.Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information.Core CompetenciesLeadership & InfluenceStrategic ThinkingRelationship ManagementConfidentiality & IntegrityOrganizational & Operational ExcellenceEffective Written & Verbal CommunicationAbout Iowa TrustIowa Trust is committed to community-focused banking, long-term relationships, and disciplined operational excellence.
