CNC Machinist - Shift 2

Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Duration: 2 Months Job Location: Skokie, IL Job Description: The CNC Machinist will operate multi-axis lathes in support of machining and other process which includes tasks such as loading and tending runs of parts or performing one-step operations on individual parts. Minimum Skill Qualifications " 1+ years of experience operating a multi-axis CNC lathe which would include: o Positioning and securing tools in holding device, machine tables, chuck, centers, and fixtures. o Indexing turret and adjusting positions of tools at each station in relation to work piece to assure clearance between moving parts and machining of specified dimensions and tolerances o Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. " Prior use of standard hand tools " Prior use of standard pneumatic tools " Prior use of standard inspection tools i.e. calipers, micrometers, drop gauges " Prior experience in precision metal machining " Prior experience in machining with tolerances of +/- .001 " Prior experience machining metals such as stainless steel, ductile iron, Hastelloy Essential Competences and Capabilities: " Ability to read/interpret blueprints, job orders, tooling instructions, and standard charts for such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions. " Perform housekeeping duties including 5S, coolant replacement, and TPM. " Follow Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities. " Ability to rotate into other positions within the team as required to meet production requirements. " Actively participate in team meetings as required (safety, problem solving, etc.). " Ability to problem-solves individually or as part of a group as job duties require. " High School Diploma or equivalent Essential Characteristics: " Work safely and without injury. " Must possess proficient reading, writing, and computation skills. " Must possess good mechanical aptitude demonstrated by success in previous machine operation or like activities. " Must possess good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. " Ability to continuously improve and learn new skills. " Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. " Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers. " Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled. Physical Demands and Environment Conditions: " Continuously standing up to 8 hours " Repetitive grasping and fine manipulation with hands " Frequent walking, bending, squatting, or twisting " Repetitive push or pull " Ability to lift 10-20 pounds frequently without assistance and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance " This position is performed in a manufacturing environment. May be exposed to: o Loud operating machinery o Wide temperature variations o Exposure to chemicals, vapors and lubricants Primary Responsibilities: " Work safely and without injury. " Machine operation involves loading and tending runs of parts or performing one-step operations on individual parts. " Positions and secures tools in holding device, machine tables, chuck, centers, and fixtures. " Verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications. " Reads blueprints, job orders, tooling instructions, and standard charts for such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions. " Understand and perform to all quality regulations, standards and policies, including but not limited to ISO 9001:2015 and AAR M-1003. Follow work procedures and ensure highest level of quality. " Indexes turret and adjusts positions of tools at each station in relation to work piece to assure clearance between moving parts and machining of specified dimensions and tolerances. " Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. " May operate welding equipment to weld parts. " Pressure test parts according to drawing or work procedure. " Performs housekeeping duties including 5S, coolant replacement, and TPM. " Must be able to perform simple inspection using calipers, micrometers, and other miscellaneous gages. " Must be able to make corrections to offsets to maintain quality. " May rotate into other positions within the team as required to meet production requirements. " Responsible for prompt and regular attendance as scheduled. " Implements the Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities. " May participate in defining strategies to meet quality objectives and in system reviews within the team. " Participates in team meetings as required (safety, problem solving, etc.). " Problem-solves individually or as part of a group as job duties require. " May be required to work overtime. Qualifications/Requirements: " High school diploma or GED. " CNC training or exposure. " Experience reading blueprints. " Must be able to run CNC equipment in one cell, including: o Change jaws o Change tools/touch off o Lad program o Run first piece and obtain QC approval Desired Characteristics, Competence and Capabilities: " Must possess proficient reading, writing, and computation skills. " Must possess good mechanical aptitude demonstrated as success in previous machine operation or like activities. " Must possess good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. " Ability to continuously improve and learn new skills. " Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. " Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers. " Ability to effectively problem-solve. " Good communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions: " While performing the duties of this job, the team member is continuously standing, repetitively grasping and repetitively using fine manipulation with the hands. The team member may be frequently required to walk, bend, squat, or twist as well as repetitively push or pull. The team member must be able to lift 10-20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. " This position is performed in a shop environment Team members in this position may be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, hot temperatures, chemicals and vapors. The team member may occasionally be required to work in an office environment. " Bench-type or floor-mounted machines (e.g. drill presses, grinders, broaches, screw machines, manual and CNC mills and lathes, saws, shrink-wrap machines, etc.) hand and power tools, measuring instruments, hoist, lifts, and lift trucks.
