Manual Machinist - Part Time

Job Description Salary: $25 per hourWe are seeking a skilled and detailed oriented Manual Machinist to join our team. This role involves producing precision parts requiring a high level of accuracy and consistency using manual lathe and mill. Maintain adherence to quality standards and specifications.. Support a dynamic shop environment with a mix of repeat production parts and custom, low-volume precision work.Part Time Hours: Monday - Friday 7:30am -12:30pmResponsibilities:Set up and operate manual lathe and mill. Work to close tolerances and inspect with various types of inspection equipment.Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for each material and operation.Cut precision threads in brass and stainless steel (external and internal).Manage tooling inventory, requisition, maintain, and replace as needed.Coordinate raw material needs and communicate stock requirements proactively.Perform routine and preventive maintenance on lathe and millCollaborate with production to understand part requirements and priorities.Work with engineering to evaluate designs for manufacturability.Read and interpret drawings and work instructions.Measure and examine completed parts for any defects and ensure conformance to drawing specifications.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.RequirementsSelf-starter who can manage tasks and priorities with minimal supervisionStrong knowledge of manual machining and lathe operations.Proficiency with precision measuring tools.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.Basic math and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated experience cutting precision threads in brass and stainless steelCapable of managing own tooling and raw material needs independentlyWorking knowledge of machine maintenanceStrong communication skills and a collaborative work styleAbility to provide practical machining feedback during the design and planning phaseGulf Fiberoptics is an EEO employer
