You will oversee maintenance staff and ensure all building systems operate reliably while meeting the stringent regulatory requirements of healthcare environments. Your role centers on maintaining compliance with Joint Commission standards, Environment of Care requirements, and Life Safety Code regulations while providing exceptional service to clients and supporting critical healthcare operations. You will be responsible for protecting and improving the value of client assets while ensuring facility infrastructure systems continue to perform their intended function in support of patient care and safety.What your day-to-day will look like:Plant Operations Management:Monitor and maintain all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment for optimal facility performanceOversee operation of critical healthcare infrastructure including medical gas systems, emergency power, and life safety systemsManage equipment performance through comprehensive preventive maintenance programs and predictive monitoringReview operational logs to ensure proper equipment function and identify potential issues before they impact operationsCoordinate equipment shutdowns and maintenance activities to minimize disruption to patient care and clinical operationsEnsure availability of adequate inventory of tools, spare parts, and supplies for effective facility operationsPrepare and submit purchase order requests while managing vendor relationships and sourcing for materialsPerform periodic inspections of equipment conditions and facility infrastructure to maintain operational readinessOversee activities of contractors working within the facility as representatives of the building or healthcare tenantsEnvironment of Care and Regulatory Compliance:Serve as Safety Officer responsible for Environment of Care, Emergency Management, and Life Safety Code complianceMaintain compliance with Joint Commission standards and prepare for all regulatory surveys and auditsEnsure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing healthcare facility operationsMaintain comprehensive documentation for regulatory compliance including building drawings, single-lines, and infrastructure recordsIdentify and remediate safety hazards throughout the facility to ensure staff, patients, and visitors work in safe environmentsManage hazardous materials programs including safe storage, usage, and disposal in compliance with policy and audit standardsImplement and administer comprehensive safety training programs for all maintenance and engineering staffAlert management promptly of building discrepancies, compliance issues, or regulatory concernsCoordinate and document Life Safety Code inspections and required testing programsLeadership and Staff Management:Supervise and manage maintenance staff including selection, scheduling, job assignments, and performance managementConduct employee counseling, performance appraisals, recognition programs, and recommend personnel actionsProvide training and hands-on instruction in maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and troubleshooting techniquesDemonstrate proper use and care of tools and equipment while instilling high level of professionalism and client serviceDevelop maintenance staff capabilities through comprehensive training and professional development programsFoster culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the maintenance teamManage performance of contracted maintenance services and vendor relationshipsLead team to achieve operational excellence and client satisfaction goals consistentlyFinancial and Project Management:Plan and forecast operational and maintenance budgets with proven expense management responsibilityRecommend and estimate costs for facility repairs, improvements, and capital projectsImplement energy management programs to reduce energy and water consumption by minimum 2% and track performanceManage departmental expenses and ensure cost-effective facility operationsCoordinate facility improvement projects from planning through executionDevelop business cases for equipment replacements and facility upgradesService Request and Work Order Management:Perform and direct the performance of all maintenance service requests ensuring efficient completionEnsure work is accomplished neatly with minimum disruption and inconvenience to healthcare operationsCheck malfunctioning equipment and ascertain corrective action required to restore satisfactory operating conditionUtilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for work order tracking and documentationPrioritize maintenance activities based on impact to patient care and facility operationsCoordinate with clinical staff to schedule maintenance activities around patient care requirementsRequired Qualifications:Education and Experience:College degree in related engineering field, formal apprenticeship program, or technical trade school preferredMinimum 5 years of hospital facility management, plant operations, engineering, or maintenance supervision experience requiredManagerial experience with proven budget and personnel management responsibilities requiredHealthcare facility operations experience essential for understanding unique requirements of medical environmentsTechnical Knowledge and Skills:Extensive knowledge of Joint Commission Environment of Care standards and regulations requiredComprehensive understanding of facility operations including HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systemsKnowledge of healthcare-specific infrastructure including medical gas systems, emergency power, and life safety systemsUnderstanding of Life Safety Code requirements and healthcare facility compliance standardsProficiency with Building Automation Systems (Siemens Apogee, Johnson Metasys, or Trane Tracer preferred)Experience with CMMS systems (360 Facility, Maximo, or similar platforms)Certifications and Professional Development:CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager), CPMM (Certified Plant Maintenance Manager), or CFM (Certified Facility Manager) certification strongly preferredUniversal Technician certification for CFCs required (or within 90 days of employment)Operating Engineers license or equivalent preferred for healthcare facility operationsProfessional Skills:Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including report writing abilityProven record of excellent internal and external customer service in healthcare environmentsDemonstrated leadership and supervisory capabilities for managing diverse maintenance teamsProblem-solving skills for complex facility operations in mission-critical healthcare settingsComputer proficiency with MS Office, Outlook email, and specialized facility management softwareManagement Scope:Team management responsibility for maintenance and engineering staffBudget and expense management responsibility for facility operationsOversight of contracted maintenance services and vendor relationshipsPhysical and Availability Requirements:Ability to work in various facility environments including mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and patient care spacesFlexibility to respond to emergency situations and after-hours calls as required for 24/7 healthcare operationsPhysical capability to inspect equipment and perform hands-on maintenance oversightProfessional appearance and demeanor appropriate for healthcare facility interactions with patients, families, and clinical staffPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical fieldExperience managing multiple healthcare facilities simultaneouslyAdvanced certifications in healthcare facility management or specialized building systemsKnowledge of emergency management and disaster preparedness for healthcare facilitiesExperience with sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency programs in healthcare environmentsProject management certification or demonstrated project management experienceLocation:
