Senior Portfolio Accountant

A leading global real estate investment manager is seeking a Senior Portfolio Accountant to join its Investor Accounting & Finance team. This role offers strong exposure to complex real estate investments, financial reporting, and direct interaction with institutional clients. They also offer a great onboarding program, geared specifically for those wishing to transition out of public accounting or similar environment.Role: Senior Portfolio Accountant – Real EstateLocation: Chicago, IL - HybridResponsibilities:Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for real estate investment portfoliosPrepare and post journal entries and support financial reporting deliverablesManage investor activity, including subscriptions, distributions, and onboardingCoordinate with internal teams on cash transactions and fund operationsReview property-level financials and perform investment analysisSupport performance reporting and assist with SEC filingsRespond to investor inquiries and contribute to client servicing effortsIdentify process improvements and drive operational efficienciesQualifications:3+ years of accounting experience (public accounting / real estate preferred)Background in real estate, REITs, or financial servicesBachelor’s degree in AccountingCPA preferredStrong Excel skills and understanding of GAAPDetail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesWhy This Role:Exposure to institutional investors and large-scale real estate portfoliosStrong work-life balance (~40–45 hours/week)Clear path for growth and promotionCollaborative, high-performing team environmentCompensation: ~$95K–$115K base + bonus
