Electrical Controls Engineer

If you look at any tubular product that you might encounter (water pipes, structural tubing, precision automotive components, etc.), it was likely made on a mill that depends on a Thermatool welder. Our welders employ radio frequencies to deliver eye-popping power using induction coupling: just like your wireless phone charger except 100,000 times as powerful. In combination with our sister companies, we lead the industry with a line of products for tube mills that include high speed flying shears that slice through metal while moving at a speed of over 1,000 feet per minute. The Position: We are seeking exceptional engineers with a background in industrial controls, PLCs and machine design to join our esteemed team to develop state-of-the-art industrial equipment for the most demanding applications and customers. Your job will require intense focus as you develop products across all lifecycle stages: concept, detailed design, manufacturing, field installation and long-term support. Experience: Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred 2 years minimum experience with PLC controls and Electrical Schematics Experience with software programming a plus Must have good technical writing and communication skills Essential Functions: Engage in the design of PLC controls and machine schematics for our welding, heating, cutting, and saw products Create internal part specifications and generate bills of materials Contribute to new designs from conception through completion Work in collaboration with group engineers, sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and service teams Able and willing to work a reasonable amount of overtime if required Occasional travel to customer locations as required Will handle miscellaneous duties as assigned Essential Physical Requirements: Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license Must make us aware of any surgical implants, pins, braces or other devices that could be affected by induction fields Thermatool Corp. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
