Project HSE SpecialistLocation: Lenexa, KSDuration: 6-Month ContractSchedule: Full-Time, OnsitePosition SummaryWe are seeking a Project HSE Specialist to support a facility decommissioning and demolition project. This individual will serve as the on-site safety representative, partnering with project leadership and contractors to ensure safe execution of demolition, dismantling, waste management, and construction-related activities.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport project safety planning, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation activities.Conduct field safety observations, inspections, and audits.Ensure compliance with site safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and regulatory requirements.Review and verify JSAs/JHAs, energy isolation plans, and critical safety controls.Monitor high-risk activities including LOTO, confined space entry, hot work, work at heights, rigging, excavation, and heavy equipment operations.Investigate incidents, support corrective actions, and maintain safety documentation.Oversee construction and demolition waste handling and disposal activities.Collaborate with contractors and project stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture.Required Qualifications5–10 years of construction safety, HSE, or contractor oversight experience.Experience supporting industrial demolition, decommissioning, construction, or manufacturing projects.Strong knowledge of fall protection, LOTO, excavation safety, rigging, and other life-critical safety programs.Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and incident investigation processes.Excellent communication and reporting skills.Ability to work full-time onsite for the duration of the project.Preferred QualificationsExperience in pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, or regulated manufacturing environments.Industrial hygiene and environmental/waste management experience.OSHA 30 Construction certification.CHST, ASP, or CSP certification preferred.
