Staff Auditor-Banking
The ideal candidate will have strong banking audit experience, a solid understanding of financial institution regulations, and the ability to evaluate risk and internal controls across multiple operational areas. This role requires strong analytical skills, professional judgment, and the ability to provide practical recommendations that improve compliance, efficiency, and risk mitigation. Key ResponsibilitiesExecute internal audits across finance, credit, banking operations, banking products, human resources, and other business functionsEnsure the internal audit program remains effective and aligned with regulatory and industry standardsAssist in the planning and execution of the Internal Audit Program in accordance with internal controls, financial industry standards, and federal and state regulationsAssess operational and financial risks and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controlsPerform testing of controls to identify compliance gaps, policy deviations, and operational risksSupport audits related to banking operations, lending, finance, and product management functionsServe as liaison between the bank and external auditors, regulators, and third-party reviewersCoordinate audit schedules, documentation requests, and examination preparation activitiesReview the quality and completeness of outsourced and co-sourced audit engagements, including workpaper assessmentsPrepare clear, concise, and timely audit reports including findings, audit opinions, and recommendationsAnalyze audit findings and recommend practical solutions to improve internal controls and operational processesMonitor remediation efforts and validate closure of audit findingsParticipate in key business initiatives and provide proactive audit guidance to leadership and operational teamsSupport integrated audit approaches and leverage data analytics where applicablePerform semi-annual risk assessments of assigned auditable entities to identify emerging and existing risksEnsure compliance with laws, regulations, internal policies, and ethical business standardsSupport audit team deliverables to ensure engagements are completed accurately and on scheduleBuild strong working relationships with Internal Audit leadership and business line stakeholders Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field requiredEquivalent financial institution experience may be considered in lieu of degreeMinimum of 3 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, or a related financial services role requiredExperience within a regulated financial institution and/or Big Four public accounting firm requiredPrior audit experience supporting:Banking OperationsCredit and LendingFinanceBanking ProductsOperational RiskInternal ControlsStrong understanding of financial institution regulatory environments and compliance requirementsExperience evaluating internal controls and identifying operational and regulatory risk exposures Preferred QualificationsCPA, CIA, or similar professional certification preferredExperience reviewing outsourced or co-sourced audit engagementsExposure to audit automation, data analytics, and continuous improvement initiativesPrior experience supporting risk assessments and regulatory examinations preferred Required SkillsStrong analytical thinking and risk assessment capabilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong report writing and audit documentation abilitiesSound professional judgment and problem-solving skillsAbility to remain objective and unbiased in a diverse work environmentStrong negotiation and stakeholder management skillsHigh level of discretion and ability to handle confidential financial informationAbility to identify process improvements and drive innovation within audit functions
