Duties/Responsibilities:
Study and analyze blueprints and floor plans to understand the plumbing and water supply system layout
Navigate the assembly and installation of water and sewer pipes without interfering with existing infrastructure
Measure and cut pipe material
Assemble valves, fittings, tubes and water system appliances
Install building water and drainage systems
Troubleshoot and fix issues relating to water supply and drainage lines
Maintain current knowledge of state regulations affecting plumbing work
Inspect and test plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance
Required Skills/Abilities:
Exceptional customer service and client focus
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade
Ability to operate excavation equipment, plate tampers, and other job site equipment
Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
Ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings
Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper
Effective communication, interpersonal and time management skills
Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted
Ability to oversee the work of Plumber’s Helpers working on job site
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements
Education and Experience:
Successful completion of an apprenticeship with a qualified plumber preferred
Proven experience working as a plumber in a fast-paced environment
Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials and equipment
Working knowledge of state regulations and codes affecting plumbing work
High School or Trade School diploma, or completed apprenticeship
4+ years experience as a plumber or plumbers helper/apprentice
Valid plumbing license, preferred but not required
Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a construction environment
Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally up to 100 pounds
Ability to work outside or inside, sometimes exposed to high heat or low temperatures
Ability to climb ladders or stairs and work either above ground or in tight spaces
