Position: Controller Location: Richardson, TX, 75085Actual Pay: openFulltimeThe Controller is responsible for leading the company’s accounting, financial reporting, and compliance activities and supporting budgeting, rates, and pricing in a regulated government contracting environment.This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial records while supporting the ISA and HawkEye corporate leadership with reporting, audits, indirect rate management, and operational finance execution.The Controller will manage day-to-day accounting operations and serve as a key partner to the finance, program management, contracts, and operations teams.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial ReportingOversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, billing, cash management, and month-end closeEnsure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAPMaintain balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations and supporting schedulesSupport preparation of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting for management and corporate stakeholdersOversee and administer company 401(k) plan, including compliance, reporting, audits, and coordination with third-party administratorsEnsure accurate and timely payroll tax filings and payments (federal, state, and local), including reconciliations and year-end reportingManage sales and use tax compliance, registrations, and audit supportOversee federal income tax compliance and coordination with external tax advisors for preparation and filing of corporate tax returnsEnsure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations and stay current on changes impacting the organizationGovernment Contracting & ComplianceEnsure compliance with FAR, CAS, DCAA, and DCMA requirementsSupport incurred cost submissions, audit requests, and DCAA/DCMA interactionsMaintain compliant job cost accounting across cost-type, T&M, and fixed-price contractsProvide accurate historicals to assist in development, monitoring, and optimization of indirect rate structuresInternal Controls, Audit & SystemsEnsure internal controls are designed and operating effectivelySupport internal and external audits and implement corrective actions as neededServe as the primary owner of ERP systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Unanet) and support related financial tools at the ISA levelOwn implementation and documentation of corporate accounting policies at the ISA levelLeadership & Team DevelopmentSupervise and develop a small team of accounting professionalsPromote accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the teamServe as a reliable extension of the ISA and HawkEye leadership for operational executionRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related fieldActive Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license required7–10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experiencePrior experience in government contracting / defense industry (required)Demonstrated expertise in:General ledger, AP/AR, payroll, billing, and cash managementProject cost accounting and job cost reportingMonth-end close and financial statement preparationFAR / CAS compliance and audit supportIndirect rate structures and incurred cost processesExperience working in a company with $30M–$150M+ annual revenueStrong understanding of job cost accountingExperience with GovCon ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar)Proven ability to operate in a hands-on, mid-market environmentStrong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlinesPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting system transitions, M&A activities, or acquisition integrationsPrior experience interacting directly with DCAA/DCMA auditorsActive or previous security clearanceKey CompetenciesDetail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to balance compliance rigor with business practicalityStrong partner to program management, contracts, and operationsHigh integrity and sound judgment in a regulated environmentEffective communicator who can translate financial data into actionable insights
