Speech-Language PathologistReports to: Principal/Ex. Director of ECSupervises: N/ATerm of Employment: 10 monthsSalary: Based on experience and educational attainmentQualifications:Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, and a passing score on a competency test approved by the NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and AudiologistsEssential Job Functions:Provides consultation, seeks assistance of others, uses related research and makes recommendations and referrals in the implementation of services.Plans therapy and uses appropriate diagnostic tools and therapy techniquesManages time, facilities and resources to facilitate delivery of servicesPromotes effective interpersonal relations and engages in continuing professional growth activitiesDevelops individual education programsConducts screening and testing, obtains diagnostic information, analyzes information and makes recommendations regarding programs and servicesOrganizes the local program, cooperates with others to accomplish its goals, coordinates program services with other student services and maintains records in accordance with established rules, regulations and ethical standardsProvides progress reports each grading period to be issued with report cardEnsures that all therapy logs are properly filed, and writes IEP goals to address the specific needs of students.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRead, comprehend, and prepare various kinds of communication and information including emails, correspondence, reports, articles, spreadsheets, staff development plans, educational forms and dataAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate well with school personnel, employees, and central office staff.Demonstrate functional knowledge of computers and all aspects of the Microsoft Office Professional software programs.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignment.Comply with confidentiality requirements in local, state and federal policies and statutes.Physical Requirements:This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of forceWork regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger motionsWork occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, etc.Work has standard vision requirementsVocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken work; hearing isrequired to perceive information at normal spoken word levelsDisclaimerThe preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
