Job Description Housing Counselor PositionPosition OverviewThe Housing Counselor supports individuals and families in securing and maintaining stable housing through case management, housing navigation, and landlord engagement.Bottom of Form Mercy HouseMercy House is a faith-based organization whose mission is to feed, clothe, and house homeless families with dependent children in Harrisonburg, Virginia, in a safe community while assisting them with services that will allow them to overcome the barriers that have led to their situation.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct client intakes, assessments, and housing plansAssist with housing searches and connect clients to resourcesBuild landlord relationships and mediate tenant issuesCoordinate rental and utility assistanceMaintain accurate documentation and HMIS dataEnsure compliance with program and housing regulationsQualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience2+ years in housing, case management, or human servicesStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and data systemsBilingual preferredStarting Salary - $43,000-$48,000Benefits: Health Insurance, 403B Retirement, Health Savings Plan Company DescriptionMercy House is a nonprofit organization with multiple programs combating poverty and homelessness in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
