The Construction Accountant position assumes a team-orientated lead role in all aspects of the construction accounting process as it relates to existing assets, future acquisitions, and fee management clients. RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain Yardi-Construction database - including but not limited to uploading budgets on new acquisitions, opening and closing jobs as needed, and reviewing contract coding to ensure payables are hitting the proper accountsWork closely with Project Managers to review budgets, percentage complete, unit renovation tracking and other projects as neededConduct monthly calls with PM's to go over project status, A/P concerns and budget revisions Roll accrual workbook forward each month, research and work with PM and vendor for project status or invoiceHandle and process all aspects of construction payables, including coding, routing of capital invoices, and maintenance of the job cost chart of accountsConduct weekly check runs, by verifying documentation has been received (Lien waivers, completion documentation), move cash between GL's as needed, and submit to A/P for payment processingReconcile cash accounts weeklyTracking and submission of lender required repairsPrepare monthly construction reportingPrepare loan draw packets, lien waiver collection, and capital calls for various portfolio'sReview of contractors' payment applications for monthly billings accuracy and completionPerform monthly/year-end close and related journal entries. Including any additional reporting needed for year-end and audit seasonCross train and back up Construction Manager and Construction Admin to cover PTO throughout the yearAd hoc requests QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree required, preferably in accounting5 years of general accountingPrefer 5 plus years of job cost accounting experienceMust have considerable knowledge with basic accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.) and accounting functionsJob cost and construction experience will be key for this positionYardi experience strongly preferredYardi Construction experience a big plusMust be proficient with Excel, Word, and Outlook applications SKILLS AND ABILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Embodies Laramar Core ValuesStrong oral and written communicatorPositive attitude, organization with excellent attention to detail requiredParticipate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goalsAbility to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervisionAbility to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlinesMust have excellent organizational skills SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
