Sous Chef - High-Volume Oyster Bar & Seafood Concept
Job Description
We are seeking a driven and hands-on Sous Chef to support kitchen leadership in a high-volume, seafood-driven restaurant. This role partners closely with the Chef de Cuisine to execute the culinary vision, maintain operational excellence, and lead a high-performing kitchen team.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, consistency in execution, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment .
Key Responsibilities
Culinary Execution
* Execute daily menus featuring fresh seafood and a robust oyster program
* Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards at all times
* Lead line execution during service and support all prep operations
Leadership & Team Development
* Train, mentor, and develop BOH team members
* Foster a positive, respectful, and team-first kitchen culture
* Support staffing, scheduling, and performance management
Operations & Cost Control
* Monitor food, labor, and supply costs to meet financial targets
* Oversee inventory, ordering, and proper storage procedures
* Maintain kitchen organization, cleanliness, and safety compliance
Collaboration
* Partner with FOH leadership to ensure seamless service execution
* Work closely with the Chef de Cuisine on menu development and operational improvements
Ideal Candidate Profile
* 2-4+ years of Sous Chef or strong kitchen leadership experience
* Background in high-volume, seafood or chef-driven concepts preferred
* Proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced service environments
* Strong understanding of food cost, labor management, and kitchen systems
* Positive, team-oriented leadership style with strong communication skills
* Passion for quality ingredients, hospitality, and continuous improvement
Compensation & Benefits
* Base Salary: $70,000 - $75,000
* Additional earnings through Kitchen Appreciation Fee Pool
* 2+ weeks PTO (increases with tenure)
