This role supports a safe and sustainable zero-emission energy source, delivering engineering solutions for traditional nuclear as well as some of the newest technologies in nuclear today.In this position, the engineer will use their expertise to execute a broad range of planning and design for civil and structural projects at power plants for leading energy providers. This includes development of plans, construction drawings, specifications, design computations, and reports. The role involves technical work in detailed design, coordination of civil and non-civil designs on multi-discipline projects, coordination with utilities and municipalities, and resolution of design issues — which may include site support for field investigations, installation support, and as-built documentation.Additional ResponsibilitiesDesign and analysis of changes to existing power plants as well as new plant systems.Develop equipment mounting, foundation design, and pipe support calculations and designs.Perform work requiring the application of basic technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts; this includes reading and understanding design drawings and technical specifications as necessary to support preparation of project deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and engineering evaluations.Review, assemble, and prepare design modification packages.Develop specifications of structural components.Perform site walkdowns to identify design solutions and develop cost-effective problem resolutions.Perform static equivalent and dynamic analysis of structures for seismic loads.Gain familiarity with and application of industry codes and government regulations.Design of pipe supports, structures, etc.Interface with other staff engineers as well as engineers working out of other offices.Qualifications/RequirementsBS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university required.Minimum of 7 years civil/structural design experience with a focus on projects in nuclear facilities.Effective written and verbal communication with clients, colleagues, engineers in other disciplines, project managers, and management.Technical mastery of engineering principles.Solid understanding of concrete and steel design codes, with working stress and ultimate strength design approaches.Ability to review complex structural calculations and design deliverables.PE heavily preferred.Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD software.Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
