Robotics Software Engineer - Simulation

Robotics Software EngineerThis role is with a stealth-mode robotics startup backed by a16z with a $120M seed round, founded by DeepMind pioneers who built the algorithms that made general robot intelligence possible. The company is building world models for humanoid robotics — the AI brain that lets robots understand and act in the physical world right out of the box. Further details about the company will be shared in later stages of the hiring process. The company is looking for a Robotics Software Engineer to own simulation infrastructure and model deployment across a fleet of 100+ humanoid robots. You will own the full stack from sim environment to deployed models — building the simulation layer that trains the world models and validates them before they run on real hardware. This is a high-ownership, technically deep role. The best candidates will come from NVIDIA or Google, with hands-on simulation experience on self-driving, humanoid, cobot, or industrial robot platforms. Strong software engineering fundamentals matter as much as domain expertise here — clean code, solid algorithms, and good data structures are non-negotiable. What You'll DoOwn simulation infrastructure end-to-end for training and validating humanoid robot world models Build and maintain high-fidelity simulation environments using Newton and MuJoCo Work with robot URDFs and retargeting pipelines to bridge sim and real hardware Own model deployment and fleet management across 100+ deployed robots Write high-quality, clean, production-grade code that scales across a fast-moving codebase You Should HaveStrong software engineering fundamentals — algorithms, data structures, and clean production code Hands-on experience with Newton and MuJoCo simulation environments Experience with robot URDFs and retargeting workflows Prior simulation experience on self-driving, humanoid, cobot, or industrial robot platforms Track record of owning complex software systems end-to-end Nice to HaveExperience at NVIDIA or Google on robotics or simulation teams Background in model deployment or fleet management for physical robot systems Familiarity with humanoid robot platforms specifically
