Physical Therapist Assistant

Job Summary: Provides clinical patient care by administering appropriate treatment. Completes patient records in a timely manner. Provides instruction (teaching) to patients and/or family members. Job Responsibilities: -Provides clinical patient care by administering appropriate treatment.-Progresses patient treatment as appropriate.-Assists RPT in modifying and re-setting functional goals.-Carries patient load that reflects productivity standards.-Provides documentation by 1) maintaining appropriate treatment records; 2) completing accurate daily patient charge sheets.-Completes patient records in a timely (same day) manner.-Accurately reflects time spent and procedures performed as well as equipment issued in patient charges.-Maintains technical (education) expertise through: 1) attendance and participation in continuing education activities; and 2) departmental in-services.-Attends 95% of scheduled in-services and departmental meetings.-Attends one off-campus continuing-education activity per year.-Provides instruction (teaching) to patients and/or family members.-Follows care path guidelines for patient/family education and documentation of home programs.-Teaches patient/family member proper use of equipment issued.-Follows set guidelines for daily operations.-Schedules and prioritizes daily work assignments.-Delegates, as appropriate, to support personnel basic patient treatments to follow through with.-Assists with PT volunteers and RPTA students as requested by (in-charge) therapist.-Consistent and correct time-care utilization.-Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited, and standard policies/protocols have been established.-Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise).-Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise).-Works directly with patients and/or customers.-Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction.-Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.-Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Required Skills & Experience: -Zero (0) - six (6) months of related experience.-Ability to use computers, basic computer knowledge, as needed for data input and reporting.-Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.-Effective time management skills. Preferred Skills & Experience: -N/A Required Education: -Associate's Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from an accredited program.
