Program Associate (Youth)
The Center for African Immigrants and Refugees Organization positions this role as an early workforce experience for African immigrant youth seeking structured exposure to professional environments. The Program Associate role emphasizes responsibility, consistency, and applied skill development through direct participation in program operations and community engagement. Youth are not placed in simulated roles but contribute to the daily functioning of a community-based organization serving families across St. Cloud.Core ResponsibilitiesProvide office support through organizing materials, maintaining records, and assisting with daily program operationsSupport events by preparing spaces, assisting with workshops and family engagement activities, and ensuring smooth implementationMaintain program spaces through cleaning, organization, and readiness for daily useDeliver customer service by engaging respectfully with students, families, and visitors and representing CAIRO in a professional mannerParticipate in community involvement and youth-led initiatives that strengthen outreach, visibility, and local engagementTraining and DevelopmentParticipate in structured college and career readiness training, including workplace communication, digital literacy, and postsecondary planningLearn in 1-on-1 mentoring sessions with CounselorsParticipate in Community Engagement and Education EventsBuild familiarity with professional expectations, time management, and team-based work environmentsPreferred QualificationsBased in St. Cloud or the surrounding areaDemonstrated need for college or credential planning supportInterest in exploring future employment pathways and developing workplace skillsWork Schedule and EnvironmentUp to 12 hours per weekFlexible scheduling within Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PMMost work occurs onsite at Midtown Square, with occasional activities at partner locations
