Facilitate learning and guide student athletes toward the fulfillment of their potential for physical, intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation.Essential FunctionsPlans a practice plan that meets the team and individual needs, interests, and abilities of student athletesCreates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of student athletesMaintains a discipline that fosters a safe and positive environment for all student athletes and coaching staff in accordance with school and county policiesEnsures adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students athletesGuides the learning process toward the achievement of proper skill levels, establishes clear objectives for all practices and games, and communicates these objectives to studentsAssesses the accomplishments of student athletes on a regular basis and provides appropriate feedbackCounsels with colleagues, student athletes, and/or parents on a regular basisAssists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student athlete life and conduct, and develops reasonable rules and procedures during practices, games, and team transportationMaintains order during all team events in a fair and just mannerEmploys a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involvedRespects students' personal spaceMaintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulationMakes provision for being available to students athletes and parents when required or requested to do so under reasonable termsCooperates with other members of the coaching staff in planning practice times and gym useTakes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesReports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possibleModels non-discriminatory practices in all activitiesComplies with and supports school and division regulations and policiesWorks to establish and maintain open lines of communication with student athletes and their parentsProvides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, and conferencesPerforms other duties as assigned.Maintains confidentiality regarding students' informationSupervisory Responsibilities:Student athletesWork Environment/ Physical DemandsAbility to work evenings and weekendsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsTravelCoaches will travel to away gamesAdditional Qualifications:Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students. Visual, auditory and ambulatory ability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Conflict management skills. Strong organizational skills.
