Construction Project Engineer

Job DescriptionWELBRO Building Corporation, who won the 2024 #1 Best Place to Work in Central Florida by Orlando Business Journal, has a great opportunity for a recent graduate as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager in Central Florida for our hospitality, senior living, industrial, or education division. The individual will provide technical information to project and site management to ensure project complies with all standards, codes, specifications and design instructions. Performs document control activities and assists in evaluating and recommending solutions to potential field problems under the guidance of Senior Project Engineer or Project Management. Excellent growth opportunities in the Project Manager career track.Key DutiesSubmittals: Using WELBRO’s PM software, track, review, coordinate and distribute all civil, architectural, structural and MEP submittals and shop drawings and ensure clear information flow between all disciplines. Notify the Project Manager if Architect’s comment on a returned submittal constitutes a change, thereby needing to create a Cost Event. RFI Process: Identify research and develop solutions to problems, conflicts, interferences and errors/omissions for the Site Manager and/or the Project Manager. Notify the Project Manager if Architect’s reply to an RFI constitutes a change, thereby needing to create a Cost Event. Coordination: Under the direction of the PM, manage the coordination process to ensure the MEP Systems fit within the building structure. Field Work: Dedicate time in the field to become familiar with the monitoring of field work of all trades to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, codes, the drawings, specifications, the Owner contract, qualifications and the subcontractor’s or vendor’s scope of work. Jobsite Meetings: Attend owner/contractor/architect/engineer/subcontractor meetings as requested and where appropriate, create the meeting minutes documenting what occurred at the meeting. Material Tracking: With participation from the WELBRO Team, create a sub and vendor material tracking log including the required delivery dates and track the dates on no less than a weekly basis. . Quality Control: perform the established quality control procedures, such as instructions, inspection programs, control measuring and testing equipment for the entire project. Document Control: Implement and maintain total contract document record control and retention for the project. Ensure all team members have current, updated drawings. Review subcontractor’s as-built drawingsQualifications:B.S. Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Civil EngineeringOne (1) year of experience in similar role as an intern, Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or Office Engineer for a general contractor performing vertical commercial construction work or education projectsExperience on multi-story commercial projects, warehouse, or education facilities is idealAbility to gather information, interpret complex data, and independently resolve technical problems. Excellent communication and organizing skillsHigh proficiency in project management applications necessaryMust possess business acumen and have the ability to gain perspective on dynamic issues and use tact and diplomacy to resolveIntegrity, tenacity, demonstrated ability to succeed, and the attitude to do what it takes to meet and/or exceed client expectationsAn offer will be contingent on passing a drug test.
