CLOSING DATE: Open Until FilledANNUAL SALARY: $53,966POSITION DESCRIPTION:Cass County is seeking a full time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in the Cass County Jail. Hours for this position include days, evenings, and weekends.Beginning January 2025, we are seeking to expand nursing coverage hours at the jail and are specifically looking to fill two positions with fixed hours of 2:00 PM to midnight, working four consecutive days starting on either Sunday or Wednesday. Availability to work one of these primary schedules is specific to these two vacancies.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Work closely with correctional staff to provide continuity of care for patientsContact practitioner to obtain ordersAdminister prescribed medications, treatments and other tasks as ordered by the practitionerProvide emergency first aid care, when appropriateCheck and record vital signs, blood glucose checks, weight, and other diagnostic tests on-site, when appropriateTriage officer intake screenings for necessity and priority at sick callReport reactions to treatments and medications, as well as changes in the patients emotional or physical conditionAssist in education on topics such as correctional facilities policies and discharge planningRecord care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate formsCollaborate and coordinate multiple medical services for diagnosis and treatment, as directed by the practitionerMaintain aseptic techniques and infection control precautions as requiredMaintain and demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacology, including drug reaction/overdoseMaintain and demonstrate working knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutritionMaintain and demonstrate working knowledge of social and behavioral sciences, particularly as applied to the correctional settingRecommend improved procedures, equipment, and supplies to your supervisorNotify supervisor of medical or security incidentsPresent/participate in education sessionsPerform duties within the scope of practice mandated by state and local standardsMaintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA practices as required by government agenciesMay be asked to train new hires and coworkersAny and all other duties as assignedREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Active North Dakota LPN license, in good standingBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationExcellent documentation skillsKnowledge of the LPN scope of practiceCass County Government is an Equal Opportunity and At Will Employer.
