Job Title: Lead Substation Engineer Location: Orlando, FloridaExperience Level: 8–10+ YearsJob Overview: We are seeking an experienced Substation Professional to support power delivery projects and asset management within a Private Equity (PE)–backed environment. This role focuses on physical substation infrastructure and Protection & Control (P&C) systems across a portfolio of utility and energy assets. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with the ability to contribute to investment decisions, due diligence, and operational improvements.Key Responsibilities:Lead the design, engineering, and upgrade of substation facilities (transmission and distribution)Oversee and review Protection & Control (P&C) schemes, relay coordination, and SCADA integrationPerform technical due diligence for acquisitions, including condition assessments and risk analysis of substation assetsSupport portfolio companies with asset optimization, reliability improvements, and lifecycle planningCollaborate with investment teams, operators, EPC contractors, and external consultantsEnsure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and utility requirementsIdentify and implement cost-effective engineering solutions and capital improvement strategiesProvide troubleshooting support, root cause analysis, and resolution of substation performance issuesQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline8–10+ years of experience in substation engineering within power delivery (design, operations, or maintenance)Strong expertise in Physical substation design and Protection & Control (P&C) systemsExperience with high-voltage substations and utility-grade infrastructureFamiliarity with industry standards (IEEE, NERC, NEC) and utility practicesProficiency with engineering and analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, PSCAD)Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skillsPreferred Skills:Experience working with or supporting Private Equity–backed platforms or infrastructure investmentsProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferredExperience managing multi-site or portfolio-based assetsStrong understanding of capital project execution and asset lifecycle managementWhy Join Us:Opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and investment strategyExposure to a diverse and growing portfolio of energy and utility assetsHigh-impact role with visibility across technical and financial stakeholdersCompetitive compensation, benefits, and career growth opportunitiesIf you want, I can tailor this for a utility, EPC firm, or make it more hands-on vs. strategy-focused.
