Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or, finance or equivalent in education and experience.
Experience: 5-10 years of accounting experience (Transportation experience highly preferred).
· Extensive knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
· Strong problem-solving skills, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis, and multi-tasking skills.
· Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
· Detail-oriented, professional attitude, and reliable.
· Possesses strong organization and time management skills.
· Experience with General Ledger Transition from QuickBooks to other Financial Accounting packages like NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or Sage Intacct.
· Experience with ASC 842 Accounting Standards for Lease Accounting.
· Expert Excel knowledge and experience. Need to be well-versed in Pivot tables and V-Lookup.
· QuickBooks Online Experience and Knowledge.
· Experience with Monthly G/L Close, Financial Statement Preparation, etc.
· Experience in Multi-Location and Multi-Department accounting activities.
· Cash Flow analysis and Cash Flow Projections.
· Budgeting and Financial Projections.
· Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· QuickBooks, NetSuite
Position Summary:
The Controller will report directly to the Vice President of Finance/Chief of Finance and will directly support the Finance Team to ensure the accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data, and implementing and maintaining appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures. The Controller will work with the management team to foster a professional, supportive, and positive work environment and provide operational support across all departments.
- Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, owner reports, and internal management reports with important KPI analysis. Month-end close should be completed on a timely and consistent basis.
- Participate in the preparation of annual budgets for the entire organization with details down to the location level and rolled up to the Division, Region, and Combined organization level.
- Compare sales and profit and loss projections to actual amounts and budgeted expenses to actual expenses and explain and discuss all major differences.
- Analyze operations to identify areas in need of improvement and work with region and location managers to improve operational profitability.
- Work with the VP of Finance/CFO and President to coordinate planning and improve processes and procedures.
- Oversee the accounting department, daily transaction processing, the chart of accounts, and manage the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Revenue generation activities.
- Work with other department managers to improve their processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing recorded on a timely basis.
- Monitor and manage the Company’s cash flow and prepare 13-week cash flow projections on a timely basis. Review all major variances and keep management apprised of any cash flow needs.
- Record and update all Right of Use Assets in the accounting records and maintain supporting schedules and information for audit and management purposes.
- Prepare supporting schedules for Balance Sheet accounts and maintain detailed schedules detailing items included in each account, which should be done monthly.
- Manage and prepare information for the annual year-end audit with CPA Firm. Prepare all schedules on a timely basis.
- Work flexible hours and weekends to meet business/customer needs.
- Participate in special projects or assignments as required by management.
