Civil Laborer/Pipe Layer

Position Summary:
Faber Construction's growing Civil Construction division is looking for an experienced pipe layer/laborer. This position requires a lot of physical labor and stamina. Responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites. Assists operators, and other construction site workers as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Follow written instructions or blueprints to lay out the route of the pipe
Dig trenches to the desired or required depth by hand or using trenching machines
Level and/or grade the base of the trench using tamping machines or hand tools
Lay pipes in trenches and weld, cement, glue, or otherwise connect pieces together
Check the slope with carpenter's level or lasers
Install and repair sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems
Cover pipes with earth or other materials
Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement, using magnetic or radio indicators.
Assemble, install, and maintain glazed or unglazed clay, concrete, plastic, or cast-iron pipes that are used as storm or sanitation sewers, drains, water mains, oil or gas lines, or electrical or other conduit.
Required Experience/Education:
Three (3) years experience as construction pipe layer/laborer REQUIRED.
Must be 18 years old with high school diploma.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Equipment operation a plus: Forklifts, backhoes, front end loaders, trenching machines, and bulldozers
Capable of utilizing appropriate math skills
Ability to understand civil work, blue print elevations, and grade lasers
Basic knowledge of public utility work protocols
Physical Ability:
Pipe Layer positions are physically demanding, and a high level of physical fitness is required.
Ability to work with related tools and equipment
Ability to understand instructions and work specifications
Able to perform physical tasks for all aspects of a construction projects
Able to lift more than 80 pounds and carry for 50 ft
Work in various weather conditions including heat and cold
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
