Our Client values a professional, accountable, and team-oriented culture where every team member contributes to a superior customer experience.Job OverviewOur Client is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to serve as the primary accounting and financial resource for the company. This is an individual-contributor role focused on execution rather than high-level oversight; the Controller will personally perform all general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance. Additionally, this position serves as the organization's primary data resource, extracting insights from various digital platforms to build KPIs and scorecards that provide leadership with critical visibility into business performance.Key Responsibilities:Accounting & Financial ReportingPersonally performs all general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintenance.Owns and executes the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Manages payroll processing, fixed asset tracking, and ensures compliance with GAAP and internal policies.Supervises a dedicated AR/AP Clerk, reviewing their work for accuracy and providing daily direction.Data Analytics & KPI ManagementServes as the primary resource for operational and financial data, building and maintaining management scorecards and dashboards.Extracts and synthesizes raw data from Service Fusion (field service management) and QuickBooks Online into clear, usable formats.Proactively surfaces operational insights and performance trends to support leadership in informed decision-making.Budgeting, Tax & ComplianceOwns the preparation of annual budgets and rolling financial forecasts, analyzing variances against prior periods.Manages cash flow planning and working capital to ensure stable day-to-day operations.Coordinates the filing of income, sales, and payroll taxes, liaising with external tax advisors as necessary.Maintains effective internal controls and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.Systems AdministrationActs as the internal expert and administrator for QuickBooks Online and Service Fusion.Leverages Google Workspace (Sheets, Drive, Docs) for sophisticated reporting and process documentation.Identifies and implements process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual administrative work.Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies:Required (Non-Negotiable): Experience: Proven, hands-on experience as a Controller or Senior Accountant, specifically within a small business environment where you are comfortable "doing the work."Communication: Impeccable spoken and written English fluency; ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Google Sheets/Google Workspace.Aptitude: High technology aptitude with the ability to navigate and integrate multiple software platforms confidently.Remote Standards: Ability to remain on camera and presentable during working hours in a collaborative, live-communication environment.Preferred/Nice to Have:Experience in home services, construction, trades, or field service industries.Familiarity with Service Fusion or comparable field service management platforms.Experience working remotely for a U.S.-based company and familiarity with U.S. tax preparation.Ability to build management reporting from scratch without formal BI tools.Benefits: 5 paid sick days per year, available after a 90-day probationary period5 additional PTO days per year begin accruing after one full year of employmentU.S. holidays observedOpportunity for performance-based raises in a stable, family-oriented culture.Technology stipend available (to be discussed).
