Mechanical Designer
Your Role at BSIOur Mechanical Engineering team is responsible for designing Building Mechanical Systems such as HVAC, Plumbing, and Utilities for clients across many different industries including specialty chemicals, renewable chemicals, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, consumer products, and aviation. Mechanical Designers work closely with engineers and are responsible for independently gathering field data, detail modeling of equipment, ductwork, and piping, and leading small projects. They are growing in their skills while always striving to provide quality designs to our clients.To support collaboration, mentorship opportunities, and effective project execution, BSI Engineering has adopted a hybrid work schedule in which employees are in the office a minimum of three days per week.Responsibilities And ScopeParticipate in site visits, walk downs, and site audits to gather field data. Gain, apply, and share knowledge of the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Building Utility, and Fire Protection systems.Draft 2D drawings and deliverables using applicable standards. Develop 3D models in Revit of equipment, ductwork, and piping using applicable standards, project technical specifications, and project procedures. Generate and annotate HVAC, Plumbing, and Piping plans, sections, and details in the 3D Revit model.Assist in updating and maintaining Mechanical lists and equipment schedules.Assists in the creation of Airflow & Instrumentation Diagrams (AF&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Develop general arrangement equipment drawings (GA’s).Ensure discipline's design is accurate and coordinated within the 2D drawings and/or 3D model and/or site scans.Meet discipline’s engineering schedule and budget objectives on assigned projects.Assist in development of material take-offs for input into cost estimating. Incorporate industry standards, client standards, and client preferences into a design.Coordinate execution of deliverables with Engineers.Interface with client, other design discipline counterparts, and project management.
