ECS is seeking a seasoned Lead Technical Engineer to support robust Impact Level (IL) 5 and IL6 programs in an operational DoD environment that houses multiple U.S. Coalition Mission Partner Environments (MPE). The Lead Technical Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing Cloud environments in Microsoft Azure Cloud, and aiding in the design, implementation, and maintenance of MPE's Microsoft SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS services. This position is a demanding, high-energy role that requires a blend of leadership, strategic, and technical acumen to drive program initiatives. The ideal candidate has proven expertise in Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Entra ID, Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Windows Server & Desktop, Ubuntu, and hybrid cloud networking; as well as essential soft skills (analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication). The Lead Technical Engineer reports to the Program Manager and acts as a senior member of a multidisciplinary organization that delivers excellence in AI/ML innovation in on-premises and cloud-native environments.General ResponsibilitiesFacilitating the design, implementation, and maintenance of multi-Cloud DoD MPEs in Azure and AWS that support highly available, scalable, and secure application servicesDemonstrating in-depth knowledge and providing hands‐on experience with a wide range of Azure and other Cloud service solutionsLiaising with key stakeholders to scope mission objectives, elicit technical requirements, and deliver effective technical solutionsDesigning and executing architecture blueprints and developing technical solutions with a DevSecOps mindset and cultureBuilding tools and scripts to automate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments, troubleshooting, monitoring, and diagnosticsProviding and maintaining a robust solution architecture compliant with DoD security standardsSupporting risk mitigation activities, including Assessment and Authorization (A&A), continuous monitoring, and vulnerability and configuration managementFunctioning as a technical escalation point within the program teamCoaching, mentoring, and guiding team leads in skills development, technical interview techniques, and team member onboardingOther duties, as assignedRequired SkillsU.S. CitizenActive DoD Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI indoctrination (TS/SCI)Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; Information Systems Management; or similar STEM discipline10+ years of progressive hand‐on technical knowledge, experience, and team leadership responsibility; 15+ years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degreeActive DoD 8140 IAM Level I, or higher, certification (e.g., Security+), and IAT Level II certification in one of the following within 45 calendar days of hire: Security+CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, SSCP, GICSP, or GSECAbility to work in a hybrid capacity, with up to 3 business days per week onsite in Fairfax, VAAbility to travel Demonstrated hands‐on knowledge and experience:Working with DoD computer network organizations and/or performersEvaluating and documenting customer environments, infrastructure, processes, and operationsDeveloping solutions with Cloud orchestration toolsImplementing DoD Windows & Linux SRGs, STIGs, and CIS compliance benchmarksAdvanced proficiency with:Virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI)Active Directory Domain Services & DNSIP Networking, including VPCs, VPNs, DNS, load‐balancing, PKI, and firewallsIaC, Automation, and OrchestrationScripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.)Ability to work independently and manage critical program deliverables with minimal oversightStrong problem‐solving and decision‐making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solutionHighly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end‐users to executive management)Desired SkillsActive DoD TS/SCI security clearanceDemonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges specific to downstream customersProven experience communicating and demonstrating the value of technical solutions to a variety of stakeholders in order to address competing drivers in complex technical environmentsDesired Certifications:AZ-104 Microsoft Azure AdministratorAZ-305 Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure SolutionsSAA-C03 AWS Certified Solutions Architect - AssociateExperience with DevSecOps FrameworksExperience using big data and cloud tools and technologiesKnowledge of Atlassian's Jira and ConfluenceECS is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate or allow discrimination on the basis any characteristic protected by law.
