Simulation Engineer

Job Title: Simulation EngineerType: ContractStart Date: ASAPEnd Date: End of 2025Location: EUThis role offers the opportunity to work on complex simulation engineering challenges while driving innovation in truck yard management and process optimization across several European locations. The right candidate will play a key role in advancing simulation standards and creating operational improvements through data-driven models.Key Job Responsibilities:Collaborate with operational teams to gather business requirements for truck yards and translate them into process-flow or geospatial simulations.Design and develop simulation models for complex yard and material handling systems, incorporating human-equipment interactions.Build and optimize data pipelines to feed simulations with appropriate input data, applying statistical analysis for stochastic processes.Led and coordinated simulation-driven process improvement efforts, optimizing solutions that consider equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, and site layout.Conduct what-if scenario analyses, experimentation, and simulation optimization to inform business decisions.Write and implement Java scripts to connect simulations with external data sources and algorithms; deploy and host simulations on platforms like AnyLogic Cloud.Define and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in collaboration with internal Subject Matter Experts.Perform post-implementation reviews (post-mortems) of simulations, partnering with Safety and Operations teams to assess results.Develop and maintain simulation standards and ensure consistent documentation and reporting of results.Create and execute multi-year planning and manage multiple simultaneous projects effectively, engaging and negotiating with both internal and external stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications:Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative field with professional experience as a Data Scientist or Research Scientist.Extensive experience in simulation development with AnyLogic and AnyLogic Cloud.Expertise in designing and conducting experiments as well as performing simulation optimization using AnyLogic tools such as Genetic Algorithms and OptQuest.Experience constructing data pipelines and writing SQL queries.Familiarity with other simulation software (e.g., FlexSim).Python coding experience.Professional experience working as a Data Scientist.Background in process improvement, Six Sigma, and Lean projects.Expertise in developing digital twins.Experience with BI/data visualization tools like QuickSight.Proficiency in machine learning and data mining.Experience using AutoCAD.Knowledge of truck and yard management environments.
