Mandarin Teacher - Extended Day & Summer ProgramsKids Connection Schools | Elementary-Aged StudentsKids Connection Schools is seeking a passionate and engaging Mandarin Teacher to lead our Mandarin language and cultural programming within our Extended Day and Summer Camp programs. This role is perfect for an educator who loves working with children, values cultural connection, and thrives in a joyful, community-centered environment.About the RoleAs our Mandarin Teacher, you will create a safe, fun, and developmentally appropriate learning space where elementary-aged students build Mandarin language skills and cultural understanding. This position blends structured Mandarin instruction with the warmth and energy of an after-school and summer camp setting.You'll collaborate closely with Extended Day staff, classroom teachers, and school leadership to ensure programming aligns with Kids Connection's mission and student-centered values.Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Program Leadership* Plan and teach engaging, age-appropriate Mandarin lessons* Support listening, speaking, reading, and cultural learning* Incorporate hands-on activities, games, music, art, and celebrations* Differentiate instruction for varying language levels* Support homework time when part of the schedule* Prepare students for performances and school showcases as neededStudent Supervision & Care* Supervise students to ensure safety and positive behavior* Build trusting relationships that foster confidence and belonging* Participate fully in program activities, including outdoor play and special eventsTeamwork & Communication* Collaborate with Extended Day staff and school leadership* Communicate student progress and needs professionally* Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, and organizationTransportation (as needed)* Drive Kids Connection vans for school pick-ups or events* Follow all safety and transportation protocolsQualificationsRequired* Bachelor's degree (Education, Chinese Language, or related field preferred)* Minimum 2 years of experience teaching Mandarin to children* Native or near-native Mandarin proficiency* Strong classroom management and communication skills* Valid California driver's license and clean driving record* CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)* Ability to meet fingerprinting and licensing requirementsPreferred* Background in TCSOL/TCFL or elementary education* Year-round availability, including summer programming* Bilingual English/Mandarin communication skillsSchedule & Employment Details* School Year: Monday-Friday, approximately 12:00-6:00 pm* Summer: Morning hours; schedule varies* 30 hours/week = full-time employmentWhy Kids Connection?At Kids Connection, we believe learning should be joyful, inclusive, and rooted in strong relationships.
