Electromechanical Assembler
Role Summary
As a Senior Production Electro-Mechanical Assembler, you will take charge of the intricate assembly, integration, wiring, and testing of sophisticated electro-mechanical systems. This position demands a high level of proficiency in mechanical integration, electrical theory, diagnostic procedures, and assembly techniques. Operating with minimal oversight, you will act as a technical resource for your colleagues, assist engineering teams with prototype development, and contribute significantly to troubleshooting, quality control, and the refinement of production processes.
Core Responsibilities
Execute the high-level assembly of intricate electromechanical units, encompassing harness creation, precision wiring, mechanical builds, PCB integration, and full system installations.
Utilize technical documentation, schematics, engineering drawings, and change orders to ensure all builds meet precise specifications.
Utilize diagnostic instruments, oscilloscopes, and specialized test fixtures to perform comprehensive functional testing.
Help maintain system reliability by identifying the root causes of failures and working alongside engineering and quality teams to implement effective solutions.
Drive the success of prototype and first-article builds by offering valuable insights to engineering regarding design improvements and workflow efficiency.
Evaluate assembly documentation, BOMs, and work instructions to suggest necessary enhancements or updates.
Act as a mentor to junior staff, sharing expertise on troubleshooting methods, tool operation, and industry best practices.
Contribute to a more efficient production environment by supporting lean manufacturing, 5S, and process standardization initiatives.
Assist in the onboarding and training process for new team members and cross-functional staff.
Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by strictly adhering to ESD protocols, quality management systems, and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required, while an Associate degree or technical certification in mechatronics or electronics is highly desirable.
Possess at least 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in system integration or electromechanical assembly.
Demonstrate an expert capacity for interpreting detailed mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and diagrams.
Show proficiency in using precision measuring devices, soldering equipment, crimping systems, and torque tools.
Maintain a solid grasp of mechanical principles and electrical concepts, including shielding, grounding, circuitry, and AC/DC systems.
Demonstrate the ability to independently resolve and diagnose intricate wiring or integration challenges to ensure project success.
Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting and documentation.
Display leadership qualities by mentoring peers and supporting team training efforts.
Be capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and working in a production setting for extended shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant certifications such as J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or IPC-A-610.
Background in high-reliability sectors like defense, medical devices, robotics, or aerospace.
Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies like the 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Pareto analysis.
Experience assisting with NPI processes or prototype development.
Familiarity with electronic work instruction platforms, digital travelers, or ERP/MRP software.
Operational Environment
A dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing setting involving precision tools, machinery, and electronic components.
Strict compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, ESD controls, and required PPE.
Regular interaction and cooperation with production, materials, quality, and engineering departments.
