In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Marina and Docks, assist in supervising and training new dockhands, accommodating all seasonal and transient customers, and assist in the general maintenance of the facility. This role reports to the Marina Manager/Dockmaster and works closely with the Marina office.As the Assistant Dockmaster, you will be expected to:Assist the Dockmaster with scheduling and managing all dockhand tasksMaintain a professional presence both in person and on the radioMonitor VHF radio for all communications with the marinaApprove inbound and outbound clearance as boats arrive and departEnsure all customers have an exceptional experience at the marinaMaintain and enforce marina rules to ensure the safety and compliance of all guestsPerform daily inspection of the docks and Submit reports of any issuesPerform daily dock walks verifying all empty slips and boats are in the correct locationVerify all transient boats have arrived / departed according to their reservationsUpon vessel departures, verify all accounts are up to date and paid in full.Maintain a clean property and marina by keeping docks clear and removing any trash when seenTake proactive approach to severe weather prevention; steps to secure and protect docks, vessels, customer and marina personnelEstablish and maintain positive relationships with customers, coworkers, and all departments.All other duties as assigned by managementThis is not comprehensive list of responsibilities, which can change at any time at the discretion of your supervisor.About You:You work well both independently and in a team environment, punctual, professional and able to communicate clearly and effectively with your teammates. You must be comfortable working around boats and on the water. You are able to stand for long periods of time working in all-weather elements throughout your shift.High School Degree or equivalentMinimum 5 years supervisory experienceMinimum 5 years marina experienceProficient in marina management software systems such as Dockwa preferredBasic boat handling experience preferredPrevious customer service experience preferredMust thrive in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work safely around the waterExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMust be highly organized, flexible, and detail orientedMust be capable of working both independently and as part of a teamMust have a flexible schedule to include working weekends, holidays, and eveningsThis position is based at Chelsea Piers in New York, New York
