5th - 12th Grade Band Director

General Description and Qualifications: King’s Way Christian Schools is a private, Christian school dedicated to serving students from 12 months through 12th grade located in beautiful Vancouver, Washington. King’s Way partners with families to provide a Christ-centered education for the whole child, leading to life change in each student.We are currently seeking a Band Director to join our vibrant Fine Arts Department. As a Christian teacher the successful candidate shall prayerfully assist students from 5th Grade through High School to develop the musical skills necessary to be successful individual and ensemble performers. This position supports the core values of King’s Way Christian Schools, possessing spiritual maturity and musical passion to provide students with opportunities to continue to grow in their relationship with God through the musical arts.Job Duties Provide age appropriate band instruction. Classes may include 5th grade beginners, 6th grade band, 7th-8th grade band, High School band, and other performance groups as agreed to with Administration such as Jazz, pep, etc.Teach in a manner that maximizes student achievement and provides equitable and challenging learning experiences for all students, exemplifying excellence (as defined by McEwan-Adkins, Marzano and Danielson)Instruct on quality sound production, rhythm, reading music, ensemble performance, etc. including music selection for varying group skill levelsSelect music, prepare and support at least two annual on-campus concertsOrganize activities for each band including field trips and off-campus performances, including communication with parents, students, and administrationDevelop and oversee regular student performance opportunities at after hour events such as home athletic events, community engagement events etc.Supervise students, student teachers, teacher aides, student aides, and volunteersAttend School Sponsored & Milestone Events (based on teaching assignment)Seek to role-model a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ and provide for the spiritual nurture of students Demonstrate a spirit of cooperation with the administrationPosition Details: Salary is based upon education and experience ranging from $43,000 - $83,000/year. Certificated staff receive 12-month pro-rated salary and are designated as overtime-exempt employees.The school year work calendar for faculty is 183 working days, 7.5 hours per day, which includes a minimum 30 minute duty free lunch break. Start time is generally 15 minutes before school starts, and end time is generally 30 minutes after release. Additionally, 45 to 60 minutes can be scheduled 1 or 2 days per week for staff or other meetings. Non-student working days, including professional development and conferences, etc. are as assigned by principals.This position requires additional hours outside of the standard school day for performances, festivals, and other student opportunities; includes associated stipend pay.BenefitsThe following benefits described are for typical full-time employees.
